inside works too

Adventuring was made to do outside right? On the roads, on the trails, in the parks, in the city, over bridges and so on right? WRONG! It can be more than that, adventuring doesn't have a set definition, it is any journey you take to any place out there. Today, although the rain was not heavy, my fellow adventurers decided to travel to many different places, mostly inside, around town and see what we could see.

At first I was scared it was going to be a boring day, we might just go to the mall. How creative is that? So, while sitting at Mugs this morning I decided to come up with a plan, a more creative plan that Carson, Kyle, Austin, and I could all follow. While scavenging on the internet and looking through the newspaper I came up with the route we would take. Around 12 our amazing Cadillac driver (Kyle) showed up at my house and we were ready to go.

I handed everyone the adventure "menu" that I had come up with. It didn't tell them where we were going, just little hints. The first stop was the Laman Library. The library had a special exhibit called Mail Call. Would my friends like it? Consider it boring? I didn't know, but I felt it was creative and it was free... doesn't get much better than that. We walked into the library, hopped up the stairs, and entered the exhibit room. Carson went around pushing the buttons which made old war veterans tell us the stories of what their mail sent to loved ones meant to them during the war. Old letters were plastered up on the tripod poster looking exhibits, written in cursive that seemed like scribbles (but it was pretty writing).

Our next adventure spot was called "a sweet treat" on the menu and it took us on the long, curvy road of Kavanaugh. Kyle somehow had trouble understanding my directions and would turn right every time I told him to take the curved path to the left. But after a few detours due to Kyle's driving we ended up at Cupcakes at Kavanaugh. Of course we had to snap a few pictures outside then we entered the building. The red velvet cup cake instantly caught my eye. I knew I had to get one and then, for driving us around so much, I thought it would be a good idea to get Kyle one. He chose the cookies and cream. Carsonian didn't want one...YET and Austin purchased the Caramel Banana Nut cake. Next to the cupcake store was a fruit juice/smoothie shop where Carson picked up a mango, pineapple smoothie. We ventured back to the cupcake shop and Carson made the right choice of eating a cupcake, she chose the Thursday special, the Elvis. By the way, for all you fancy cupcake lovers, I highly recommend Cupcakes at Kavanaugh, it was 100 times better than Gigi's Cupcakes which is also in Little Rock.

After devouring our delicious cupcakes, I remembered Mylo Coffee wasn't too far from where we were. I had heard they carried one of my most favorite pastries, the macaroon. We drove there, once again taking a detour as Kyle missed to the curve again (much to Austin's enjoyment), and picked up a macaroon.

The adventure was half way over now, but we weren't done yet. We traveled on to Central High and took a few pictures in front of it's wonderful stadium. After the quick stop at Central we headed to Heifer Village and learned some stuff that will hopefully help us fix world hunger. Our last stop on the journey was Starbucks. There I picked up the limited edition birthday cake frappucino (which has no coffee in it). After talking for a few minutes, we had Kyle drop us at our houses and our adventure was done. It was a good 4 hours worth and we went to some places we had never been. The adventure squad (as Kyle calls it, we don't really have an official name) will certainly be up to more over the coming weeks and through summer, so come back and read more.

new to this adventure stuff

It all started a few weeks ago, the snow came pouring down, or at least dribbling down. Maybe it wasn't even snow, just ice. Anyways, it was enough ice for them to cancel school and oh the joy it brought me. Should it have brought me joy though? That meant a shorter summer due to makeup days (which actually summer will still be the same length), and I would just sit at home bored on my couch watching re runs of the same highlights over and over again on sportscenter. But then, it happened. I was at my friend Jasons and he lives very close to starbucks, so of course I had to walk there. My friend Carsonian (I call her that) happened to live close to the wonderful coffee house too, so she joined us inside the warm, cozy building. Next thing you know, after enjoying a Caramel Flan latte, my friends and I walked everywhere across the frozen tundra that was North Little Rock. That was the start, and hopefully the beginning of many, many more adventures.

It's been over a month since then and this adventuring stuff has become, well, really addicting. There's nothing better than traveling around with your closest friends, taking pictures, eating food, and just having fun. It is certainly better than sitting on your butt all day playing video games or watching tv. I will say there is the right time to watch millions of episodes on Netflix of your favorite show, because who doesn't love Netflix? Hopefully as the weather gets warmer, I will have many more experiences to tell you about on this new blog of mine. Also, hopefully I will be getting a better quality camera soon. For now all the pictures you'll see on here will either be from my iPhone 6 or my friend's amazing Mark II Canon Camera that he is so generous to lend to me occasionally or take pics of me with.
